In 2024, our Hierarchy Support Services Activity Club continued to be a space where adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions could connect, learn, and thrive. Meeting every Monday at Uphall Community Education Centre, we provided around 190 hours of support over 38 weeks, creating an environment that promoted social interaction, skill development, and overall wellbeing.
What We Achieved in 2024
π‘ Skill-Building Activities β From cooking lessons and digital awareness to road safety and music skills, we helped our service users develop valuable life skills.
π¨ Creative Expression β Arts and crafts remained a club favourite, with activities like jewellery making, clay modelling, and painting.
π§ββοΈ Health & Wellbeing β We introduced guided meditation, yoga, and fitness sessions, alongside mental health awareness resources.
ποΈ Community Engagement β We organised outings and social events to encourage confidence and independence beyond the club setting.
A Summer Highlight βοΈπΆπ¦
One of the standout moments of the year was our Summer Gala Day, held at Uphall Houston House. It was a day full of fun, laughter, and community spirit! We enjoyed a visit from an ice cream van, live music, delicious BBQ food, and sweet treats from a popcorn and candy floss machine. The day was made even more special with giant games, kindly provided by Optimal Events Hire, bringing an extra layer of excitement and entertainment.
The Impact
Our club filled a critical gap left by the reduction of accessible community resources, providing a much-needed space for socialisation and personal development. Service users reported increased confidence, improved life skills, and stronger friendshipsβa testament to the clubβs success.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many asking for additional club daysβa reflection of the demand and value of this initiative.
As we move forward into 2025, we are excited to keep building on this success, shaping the club based on service user feedback, and ensuring it remains a vital support for our community. A BIG thank you to Pamela, Stevi and Linda who manage, host, resource and deliver all things Activity Club related.
